Although Big Sur Stone House is fully accessible from the south on Highway 1, Highway 1 is currently closed a 7 miles north of Big Sur Stone House at “Paul’s Slide.”
Currently Caltrans has paused slide removal efforts at Paul’s Slide near Lucia so Highway 1 from the North is still closed in that area. CalTrans is doing Geotechnical studies now to determine if there has been any slide movement; following that, they will make a determination of how to proceed.
